Newbé — creating your village in the digital age
Leveraging Newbé for the new moms, new babies, and new support systems.

The problem pressure and paralysis
Postpartum mothers have gone through a tremendous amount of transitions and are often inundated in information and expectations. Two common discoveries came out of research:
No two postpartum experiences or preferences are alike
Community support is frequently desired but sometimes avoided due to the fear of being a burden and the mental load of coordination in the fog of new motherhood.
The insight building a supportive community on your own terms
How might we empower Maya, and other postpartum moms, to create their ideal supportive community without feeling like a burden?
“A big goal is to keep baby alive... [but also] making sure you're getting taken care of as the recovering mother.”
Maya the new mom
Meet Maya. She’s overwhelmed with the responsibilities of motherhood.
She feels the dual weight of not knowing where to start and fearing that her requests might be viewed as a burden so she doesn’t reach out for support.
This leads to the question how might we empower Maya, and other postpartum moms, to create their ideal supportive community without feeling like a burden?
A supportive solution
Newbé lets postpartum moms ask for support from their village by:
Creating a selection of pre-made support requests made with new moms in mind
Sending support requests directly to a pre-designated village of friends and family
Automated task tracking to combat the mental fog of new baby life
1: choose from a premade task list
Ask for practical help around emotional and physical healing with opportunities to recover and connect.
By taking the guesswork out of knowing what to ask for help for, we can help reduce Maya’s feelings of overwhelm and stress postpartum. These categories were created based on the most common needs identified in research:
🍲 Nourish: ask for someone to deliver a meal
🏠 Home help: support with basic chores or tasks around the house
☕ Connection: ask for someone to keep you company
2: simplified options
Coordinate support in a caring and comforting manner with tailored support
Maya has found a foolproof way to keep her friends and family from barging in on her during those precious moments of sleep and breastfeeding: she follows the prompts for description, date, and time for a task, simplifying the planning process with guided inputs.
That way, she can avoid any unexpected visitors and her loved ones can rest easy knowing they won't be interrupting any critical mom-business.
3: from task to text to tribe
Requests send out as automated texts and your village is notified. Anyone who is able can volunteer to fill the requested slots
After creating all her tasks, Maya can quickly review before sending them off to her loving friends and family.
With a quick text and a link to all the important details, she can get back to her more pressing responsibilities (napping, snuggling, and watching baby yawn) knowing that reinforcements are on the way.
4: track what’s next
Give exhausted postpartum moms peace of mind knowing help is on the way
Maya can see which tasks are accepted or pending at a glance.
She can quickly keep track of her tasks and see a calendar view. This visual representation of the help she is going to receive makes her feel relieved, seen, comforted, and encouraged.
